Last reviewed 12 October 2026 · How we evaluate
Bangkok Hospital Siriroj was Phuket's first private hospital, opened in 1982, and it now hosts the Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute, a dedicated cosmetic unit that marked ten years in March 2026. The hospital says most of the institute's patients come from abroad, and the institute is best known for body contouring and gender-affirming surgery.

Our Assessment of Bangkok Hospital Siriroj
Bangkok Hospital Siriroj offers something unusual outside Bangkok: a purpose-run cosmetic surgery institute, PPSI, with its own team, its own floor and a mainly international patient base, sitting inside a general hospital with 24-hour emergency and trauma services and intensive care. Its director, Dr Sanguan Kunaporn, has held senior roles in the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Thailand's aesthetic plastic surgery society, and the menu runs from rhinoplasty and facelifts to breast surgery, body lifts and gender-affirming surgery.
The trade-offs: surgical prices are not published beyond the odd promotion, so expect to request a quote. The hospital's own JCI evidence is an announcement of a 2019 survey, and we could not confirm the current accreditation term with JCI directly. Phuket is also a resort island, and recovering from major surgery means avoiding sun and sea for some weeks, which some patients find frustrating.
For patients who want a specialist cosmetic team, hospital-level backup and a quieter recovery than Bangkok, PPSI is a credible choice. If you want the widest choice of surgeons and the most visible price lists, Bangkok's specialist hospitals still offer more.

Accreditations, Verified
Bangkok Hospital Siriroj states that it is accredited by Joint Commission International. Its most detailed public record is an announcement of a third JCI accreditation after an on-site survey in November 2019. We could not retrieve a current listing from the JCI online directory, so this rests on the hospital's own published records.
JCI Accredited
Joint Commission International. The hospital reports achieving JCI accreditation for a third time, following an on-site evaluation in November 2019. JCI is the leading global standard for hospital quality and patient safety. We were unable to independently retrieve a current listing from the JCI online directory, so this rests on the hospital's own published certification records.

The Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute publishes a full cosmetic menu across the face, breasts and body, plus gender-affirming surgery. These are the procedure groups it lists.
What Bangkok Hospital Siriroj Costs
PPSI does not publish a price list for surgery, so most procedures are quote-only. Its published promotions are occasional, for example a tenth-anniversary upper eyelid surgery offer at 25,000 baht with no stated end date, so treat any promotion as something to confirm when you enquire. Expect prices below Bangkok's flagship hospitals but above specialist value hospitals such as Kamol or Yanhee. Ask for an itemised quote covering surgeon, theatre, anaesthesia, room and medication.

How Bangkok Hospital Siriroj Compares
Most patients considering PPSI are weighing Phuket against Bangkok. Here is how Bangkok Hospital Siriroj compares with the hospitals people usually look at.
Bangkok Hospital Siriroj vs Bumrungrad International
Bumrungrad has wider international patient infrastructure, JCI status confirmed on the issuing body's register and higher prices. PPSI offers a dedicated cosmetic team and a quieter recovery setting in Phuket.

Kamol is a specialist cosmetic hospital in Bangkok with lower prices and a long-standing gender-affirming programme. Bangkok Hospital Siriroj adds the emergency, intensive care and general hospital services a stand-alone cosmetic hospital lacks.

Language Support
Interpreters for English, German, Swiss-German, French, Japanese, Russian, Korean and Chinese, with other languages on request.
International Coordination
International Services Coordinators help with arrangements before you arrive, during your stay and at discharge.
Direct Contact with PPSI
PPSI can be reached through its own phone extensions and LINE account, so you can talk to the cosmetic team before you book.
Insurance Department
An international insurance department handles insurer and assistance company enquiries, though elective cosmetic surgery is rarely covered.
If something goes wrong after you fly home
Because PPSI sits inside a general hospital with 24-hour emergency and trauma services and intensive care, a complication during your stay is handled on site rather than by transfer. The hospital publishes no specific remote follow-up service for cosmetic patients, so agree a follow-up plan and a direct contact with PPSI, for example its LINE account, before you leave, and ask for your operation notes and implant details in writing.
As your coordinator we stay in the loop after you land. If a concern comes up we help you reach your surgeon, get records to a local doctor, and understand what the hospital will and will not cover. We tell you this before you book, not after.
How Booking Works at Bangkok Hospital Siriroj
- Contact PPSI by phone, LINE or through its website with the procedure you are considering, or enquire with us and we arrange it for you
- Ask which surgeon will operate and for an itemised quote, since surgical prices are not published
- Confirm how many nights you will stay in hospital and how long to remain in Phuket for follow-up checks
- The International Services team can help with arrangements before arrival, during your stay and at discharge
When you enquire through us, our care team handles these steps with the hospital on your behalf and confirms everything back to you before you commit to anything.

How We Evaluated Bangkok Hospital Siriroj
Our hospital profiles are independently researched by our editorial team. No hospital can pay to be listed here, ranked higher or reviewed favourably. Here is what we assessed for Bangkok Hospital Siriroj. Our checks are desk-based, verified against the issuing bodies' registers and the hospital's own published materials rather than a hospital-arranged visit. Read the full methodology.
We confirmed each accreditation directly with the issuing bodies and against published records, rather than relying on marketing claims, so the badges you see are real.
We checked the qualifications of the clinicians who would treat you and the depth of the specialist teams, technology and inpatient support standing behind them.
We assessed whether there is a genuine international patient service (multilingual staff, visa help and structured coordination) rather than just a translated website.
We looked for documented care plans, follow-up scheduling and clear channels, so you can still reach your care team once you have flown home.
We evaluated whether estimates are itemised and given in writing upfront, covering treatment, stay and follow-up, rather than arriving as one opaque figure.
We reviewed patient reports across multiple independent sources, looking for consistent themes in satisfaction, complaints and treatment outcomes.
How we make money
Hospitals cannot pay for placement, ranking or a favourable review anywhere on this site. We earn a coordination fee from the hospital only when you choose to book through us, and it never changes your price. That conflict is why we publish our evaluation criteria and sources on every profile, and link accreditations to the issuing bodies.
If you believe any information on this profile is inaccurate or outdated, please contact our editorial team and we will check it against the source.
