Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute (PPSI)

PPSI is what you get when two long-running Phuket aesthetic centres merge into a single specialist institute and base it inside a JCI-accredited hospital. Founded in 2016, it pairs Thai Board-certified plastic surgeons with full hospital infrastructure, so a cosmetic procedure here is backed by emergency cover, on-site diagnostics, and overnight nursing rather than a standalone clinic setup.

Our Assessment of Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute (PPSI)

Independent verdict

PPSI's pitch is having it both ways, pairing the day-to-day focus of a specialist aesthetic team with the emergency backup of the JCI-accredited hospital it sits inside. In Phuket, that combination is genuinely hard to find elsewhere.

The surgical team is led by senior, Thai Board-certified plastic surgeons with international fellowship training, several of whom hold positions in national and international aesthetic surgery societies. The institute is well set up for international patients, with English-speaking surgeons, tele-consultation, and 3D imaging for surgical planning.

The main trade-offs are scale and breadth: PPSI is focused on aesthetic plastic surgery rather than a full multi-specialty offering, and Phuket is a leisure-led destination, which suits patients combining surgery with recovery time but is less convenient than Bangkok for those wanting the widest choice of surgeons in one city.

Who Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute (PPSI) Is Best For

In one sentence, Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute (PPSI) is the right choice for specialist plastic surgery with hospital backing who accept premium tier pricing. The lists below tell you whether that is you.

Best suited for

  • International patients who want a specialist plastic surgery institute with full hospital backing
  • Patients prioritising Thai Board-certified surgeons with international fellowship training
  • Those who want to recover in a leisure destination rather than a city hospital
  • Breast surgery and body contouring patients seeking experienced, high-volume surgeons

May not be the best fit if

  • Patients wanting the widest possible choice of surgeons concentrated in one city (Bangkok offers more)
  • Those seeking a large multi-specialty hospital rather than a focused aesthetic institute

Not sure which side you fall on? Describe your case to the care team and we will tell you straight.

About Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute (PPSI)

Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute was founded in 2016 through the merger of two established Phuket aesthetic centres: the Phuket International Aesthetic Center (PIAC), formerly based at Phuket International Hospital, and the Bangkok-Phuket Institute of Cosmetic Surgery (BPICS) at Bangkok Hospital Phuket. Both predecessor centres had operated for over a decade before joining forces.

The combined institute is located inside Bangkok Hospital Siriroj, a 196-bed JCI-accredited private hospital that opened in 1982 as Phuket's first private hospital (formerly Siriroj International Hospital / Phuket International Hospital). PPSI focuses specifically on aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, with a surgical team made up of Thai Board-certified plastic surgeons, several of whom completed international fellowships and hold roles in national and international aesthetic surgery societies. In 2019 the institute received the International Finance Health Care Award in the category of Best Hospital For Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

How We Evaluated Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute (PPSI)

Our hospital profiles are independently researched by our editorial team. No hospital can pay to be listed here, ranked higher or reviewed favourably. Here is what we assessed for PPSI.

These checks are desk-based. We verify against the issuing bodies' registers and the hospital's own published materials rather than a hospital-arranged visit, and no hospital has any say in what we publish. Read the full methodology.

Accreditation & certification

We confirmed that PPSI operates inside JCI-accredited Bangkok Hospital Siriroj and verified the surgeons' ISAPS memberships, rather than relying on marketing claims alone.

Surgeon credentials

We verified each listed surgeon's Thai Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery certification and Medical Council of Thailand licence number, plus published fellowship and society roles.

International patient systems

We assessed whether the institute supports overseas patients with English-speaking surgeons, pre-travel video consultation, and surgical planning tools.

Surgical environment

We looked at the operating theatre infrastructure, including HEPA filtration, laminar airflow, and the hospital backing that supports cosmetic procedures.

Recovery & aftercare

We reviewed recovery arrangements, including private rooms, overnight hospital stays, and companion accommodation.

Recognition & track record

We noted the institute's founding history through the merger of two long-running Phuket centres and its 2019 International Finance Health Care Award.

How we make money. Hospitals cannot pay for placement, ranking or a favourable review anywhere on this site. We earn a coordination fee from the hospital only when you choose to book through us, and it never changes your price. That conflict is why we publish our evaluation criteria and sources on every profile, and link accreditations to the issuing bodies.
