Last reviewed 11 July 2026 · How we evaluate
Bangkok Hospital Phuket was the first hospital in southern Thailand to earn JCI accreditation, back in 2009. Part of the BDMS network, Thailand's largest private hospital group, it pairs full general-hospital infrastructure with a long-running cosmetic surgery service and an international patient team that handles interpreters, transfers, and documentation.

Our Assessment of Bangkok Hospital Phuket
In southern Thailand this is the hospital-grade option, and its worth shows up precisely in the rare case where something goes wrong rather than in the routine visit. Everything you would want on hand in an emergency is already in the building, which is not something Phuket's smaller cosmetic clinics can say.
The trade-offs are familiar for a hospital of this scale. Pricing sits above Phuket's smaller cosmetic clinics, and the cosmetic service is one department among many rather than the building's single focus.
For patients who want hospital-grade backup in a beach destination, it is a strong, conservative choice.
Who Bangkok Hospital Phuket Is Best For
In one sentence, Bangkok Hospital Phuket is the right choice for safety-first patients who want a full hospital in Phuket who accept premium tier pricing. The lists below tell you whether that is you.
Best suited for
- International patients who want a full general hospital, not a standalone cosmetic clinic, behind their surgery
- Those who value being in Phuket for recovery rather than Bangkok
- Patients who prioritise JCI accreditation and on-site intensive care
- Travellers who want interpreter support and coordinated airport transfers
May not be the best fit if
- Patients chasing the lowest price, smaller Phuket and Bangkok clinics often quote lower fees
- Those who specifically want a boutique, single-surgeon cosmetic clinic experience

What Bangkok Hospital Phuket Costs
Pricing reflects what you are buying: an accredited general hospital with on-site intensive care, not a standalone cosmetic clinic. Bangkok Hospital Phuket sits at the premium end of the local market and above many smaller Phuket clinics, while remaining well below equivalent private cosmetic surgery in the UK, US, or Australia. Treat any figures as approximate and confirm an itemised quote directly with the hospital.

About Bangkok Hospital Phuket
Bangkok Hospital Phuket opened on 22 May 1995 as a joint venture led by Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), Thailand's largest private hospital group. The hospital operates around 200 inpatient beds across more than 20 specialist centres, supported by multiple operating rooms, intensive care units, and dedicated cardiac care units.
It serves both the local Phuket population and a large international patient base drawn from the island's tourism and expatriate communities. In 2009 it became the first hospital in southern Thailand to receive Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, which it held through 2021.
Its current accreditation is Hospital Accreditation (HA) from Thailand's national accreditation institute, valid to 2028. Cosmetic and plastic surgery has been offered here for over a decade, historically through the hospital's aesthetic surgery service and more recently within the Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute, a combined plastic surgery unit drawing on surgeons from the BDMS hospitals in Phuket.

How We Evaluated Bangkok Hospital Phuket
Our hospital profiles are independently researched by our editorial team. No hospital can pay to be listed here, ranked higher or reviewed favourably. Here is what we assessed for Bangkok Hospital Phuket.
These checks are desk-based. We verify against the issuing bodies' registers and the hospital's own published materials rather than a hospital-arranged visit, and no hospital has any say in what we publish. Read the full methodology.
We verified the accreditation history against the hospital's own dated records, which show JCI held from 2009 through 2021 and Thai HA current through 2028.
We only listed a surgeon whose Thai Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery certification we could verify through multiple sources, and omitted any we could not confirm.
We checked for a genuine international patient department with interpreters, coordinators, and documentation support, confirmed via the hospital's own service pages.
We looked at how discharge summaries, imaging results, and follow-up scheduling are handled for patients who travel home after surgery.
We treated all cosmetic pricing as approximate and recommend obtaining an itemised quote (surgeon fee, hospital fee, anaesthesia, medication) directly from the hospital.
We reviewed reports across multiple independent sources to identify consistent themes rather than relying on individual testimonials.
How we make money. Hospitals cannot pay for placement, ranking or a favourable review anywhere on this site. We earn a coordination fee from the hospital only when you choose to book through us, and it never changes your price. That conflict is why we publish our evaluation criteria and sources on every profile, and link accreditations to the issuing bodies.
If you believe any information on this profile is inaccurate or outdated, please contact our editorial team and we will check it against the source.
